Artist statement

Taranaki artist Graham Kirk is widely recognised for his imaginative paintings that bring superheroes into everyday New Zealand settings. His Superheroes in New Zealand series has become iconic, blending humour, nostalgia, and place in a uniquely local way. Through meticulous acrylic work and a signature stippled surface, he creates detailed scenes that sit between pop culture and landscape painting.
