Frances Hanson

Simplicity is at the forefront of Hanson’s design process, with the artist favouring universal shapes such as the disc, teardrop and oval. Subject matter for her pieces comes from New Zealand flora and fauna, natural cycles and seasons.

Hanson is partner to award winning glass artist John Hanson. The creative duo frequently collaborate and exhibit together. Frances Hanson is a committed member of the NZSAG and has received critical acclaim for her work. Notable awards include multiple category prizes at the Auckland Easter Glass Awards, the Mairangi Ceramic and Sculpture Awards and the NZGBA Fused Glass Award (National Award). Her work can be found in private collections throughout Australasia.
