Cathy Brickhill’s art is a delicate form of freehand stitch-work, created through numerous hours of sewing, combined with building 3d sculptures using layers of tiny stitches. She has won numerous awards for her work through various art shows around New Zealand. Taking the detailed reflections of our natural world and combining it with the ability to see the intricate detail and then transferring that into a stitched representation, resulting in a unique, one of a kind piece of art. Her original hometown is New Plymouth, but her home today is on a rural lifestyle block north of Auckland which adjoins a large native bush reserve. She uses everything in nature to provide her with inspiration, enthusiasm, intrigue and wonder. She also spends her days exercising, researching species, gardening, and keeping busy with her young family.
