Hazel Eating Spoon from Te Awamutu – Jeff Fryett
$20.00
Hazel Eating Spoon from Te Awamutu
Hazel is a wood with a quiet charm. Light, smooth-grained, and warmly toned, it has an unassuming beauty that sits comfortably in the hand — and in Jeff Fryett’s hands, it’s shaped with the same unhurried intention he brings to every piece. Just axe, sloyd, and hook knife, working with the wood until an eating spoon emerges that feels like it was always there.
The surface is burnished with a river pebble and sealed with a food-safe curing oil, drawing out the soft, golden tones and gentle lustre that make Hazel such a satisfying timber to carve and to use.
Small, considered, and a pleasure to eat with.
