Mangaweka – Robin White

Mangaweka (1973) – Robin White
First imagined in 1971 during a road trip with poet Sam Hunt, Mangaweka was painted in 1973 and has become one of Robin White’s most iconic works. Influenced by Rita Angus, it captures the crisp geometry of a rural main street scene — a truck, wooden building, and hills — transforming small-town New Zealand into an archetypal image.

Fine art print from the Te Papa collection. Colours are carefully matched to the original and printed on beautiful, art-quality paper.
