$2,100.00
This mere is carved from Hapopo pounamu, prized for its deep green hues and mottled patterns, found near Kā Umu o Hapopo (Big Bay), South Westland.
Traditionally used as a close-combat weapon, the mere is a short, flat club associated with strength, authority, and chiefly status. It is also a powerful symbol of leadership and respect in Māori culture, often carried in ceremonies and handed down through generations.
Dimensions: 110mm (W) x 320mm (H) (stone only). Including the cord, the total hanging length from top to base is approximately 580mm.
