Artist statement

David spent many years as a graphic designer and illustrator for Wellington newspapers before transitioning to visual effects in the New Zealand film industry. Now based on the Kapiti Coast, he works from home, painting primarily in acrylic on canvas. His artwork blends reality, nostalgia, and the surreal, with a strong New Zealand theme.
