Artist statement
Taranaki born and bred, Lynda Hooker has been working with clay for nearly 40 years — a craft that began as a beloved hobby and has since grown into a full-time creative practice. With a preference for hand-building over the wheel, Lynda brings an intimate, tactile quality to each piece she makes, working across a variety of clay bodies to explore form, texture and function. Her work is deeply rooted in the Taranaki region she calls home, reflecting a quiet pride in place and a genuine love for the art of making.
