Willow is a wood that rewards patience. Pale, close-grained, and quietly beautiful, it carries a lightness — both in weight and character — that makes it a natural choice for a ladle meant to be used, not just admired. Jeff Fryett lets the material lead, working with axe, sloyd, and hook knife until the form reveals itself.

The surface is burnished with a river pebble and sealed with a food-safe curing oil, bringing out the soft, creamy lustre that makes well-finished willow such a tactile pleasure to hold and use.
