Artist statement

Artist Graham Kirk, born in Hawera, has gained national and international acclaim for his “Superheroes in New Zealand” series, featuring finely painted landscapes with characters from DC Comics. Kirk uses his photos as references and creates a unique painted stipple effect with cottonwool buds, and his artwork is exhibited widely across New Zealand.
